June TBR | Big Biographies And Beach Reads!

June 6th, 2022

Hi Readers!

This is coming a bit late because I decided to do a seperate TBR for the long weekend over the Queen’s jubilee. But I still have big reading plans for the rest of this month! Here’s what’s on my TBR.

Napoleon The Great by Andrew Roberts – I’m loving my big biographies at the moment. In May I read one all about the Romanovs and now I want to read about one of the most prolific leaders in history. I learnt nothing about the Napoleonic Wars during school, but I’m excited to.

Eat, Pray, Love by Elizbeth Gilbert – I’ve always kind of shrugged this book off, but I keep hearing it mentioned in the podcasts I’m listening to at the moment, and it’s got me intrigued. Also, I’m really not a travellor but I love travelling through books, and this seems like a good one to do that with.

The Remains Of The Day by Kazuo Ishiguro – This gives me Downton Abbey vibes as it’s about a butler who gets a day off one Summer and I think that sounds so great.

Howards End by E.M. Forster – This will be a reread for me. I read it a couple of years ago and, I won’t lie, everything else I’ve read by Forster since then has let me down. I’m hoping this will be as good as I remember.

My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante – Another reread. I have no doubt I’m going to love this. And I just bought second copies of the entire series and you know what that means, annotating!

Book Lovers by Emily Henry – I’m very excited to finally get to this. I’ve been so jealous seeing everyone reading it it May!

The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas – I’m less excited for this. I’ve seen a lot of mixed reviews. But I do like a good romance, especially when the suns out.

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover – I never thought I would read another Colleen Hoover, but bookstagram has convinced me! I swear, every time I go on that app I see a picture of this book. And I want to join them!

Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf – This will be a reread, and I think I’ll be annotating this one as well.

(Start) Middlemarch by George Eliot – I know I won’t finish it in June, but I’m hoping to start it. This is kind of a reread, but I honestly can’t remember a thing that happens. I read it two years ago and all I remember is it follows two sisters, and one travels to Italy, which sounds Summery to me.

I also have plans to read The Odyssey in June, but we’ll see how that goes…

What do you plan on reading this month?

Thanks For Reading,
Jess X
