Movies Set On Summer Holidays

Hi Readers!

Right now a lot of us are opting to skip the Summer holiday this year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still escape. These are some of my favourite movies that take place on Summer holidays, to make us feel like we’re tanning on the beaches of Tenerife or causing havoc at Summer camp.

Camp Rock

I couldn’t write a post about Summer movies and not talk about the ultimate Summer camp every teenager wanted to go to in 2008. I have to say though, Camp Rock 2 is where it’s at.

Monte Carlo

Selena Gomez, Paris holiday, mistaken identities, fake British accent and adorable romance. I love everything about this movie.

The Lizzie Mcguire Movie

This Summer romance set in Rome gave us the iconic bop ‘What Dreams Are Made Of’ and definitely deserves to be on this list.

Cheaper By The Dozen 2

This film is packed with all the fun you can have during the Summer as a kid. We have sibling fights, water sports, family chaos, family rivalry, a first date and annoying dads. This movie is a lot of fun.

Midnight In Paris

This has been a favourite of mine for years now. Imagine being able to travel back to 1920’s Paris and talk to writers like Fitzgerald and Hemingway. This movie just captures Paris so well.

Lilo & Stitch

Aliens in Hawaii. A Summer movie with a twist. This is one of the best Disney films and one that always makes me feel nostalgic for childhood Summers when I would watch this on repeat.

Call Me By Your Name

This movie has all the Summer vibes. It’s coming-of-age set in Italy and has a romance that is, whilst controversial, all consuming.

Mammia Mia & Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again

These movies are the best, and if you don’t agree then we probably won’t get along. Greece, ABBA songs, Meryl Streep, weddings, love and just pure happiness. I love it!

50 First Dates

I haven’t actually seen this movie in years, but I remember loving it. It’s about a woman who was in an accident that causes her to forget each day after the accident. It’s a love story with a very persistant love interest played by Adam Sandler whose movies I don’t tend to enjoy, but I remember this one being really sweet.

High School Musical 2

The HSM trilogy is superior to all disney original movies, that is a fact. This one takes place at Sharpays Summer resort, with the rest of the crew spending the Summer working there. It’s fabulous.

Dirty Dancing

This is a classic for a reason. Seeing high strung, rich girl Baby let loose and become her own woman whilst falling in love with her dance instructer Johnny. Everyones got to see this film at least once in their life.

Kristen Stewert and Jesse Eisenberg. Do I really need to say more? This is about two teens working in a theme park, set the Summer before college.

The Parent Trap

Anyone else grow up watching this convinced Lindsey Lohan was a twin? I still remember when I found out. It was rough. LOL okay so I’m sure we all know what this movies about. Seperated twins go to the same Summer camp and switch places. Chaos ensues. It’s fantastic.

The Evans Stevans Movie

Sorry about all the disney recs. Apparently I really need to update my movies list. But again, this ones a classic. It’s the Summer and Louis is looking forward to a Summer of doing nothing but eat and sit in the sun. Until a TV producer approaches them and tells them they’ve won a holiday to a remote island. It’s almost too good to be true…

Before Sunrise Trilogy

Just about a couple who meet on a train and decide to spend the night together… walking around Vienna and talking about everything and nothing.

So those are the movies that make me feel like I’m on holiday. Enjoy the rest of the Summer guys, no matter where you are.

Thanks For Reading,
Jess X
